Epilepsy Clinics & Specialized Care

Health Services

  • HealthLink BC 8‑1‑1
    A free, province-wide telehealth service offering 24/7 access to registered nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, and health navigators. Interpreters available in 130 languages.
  • Health Services & Supports for People with Disabilities
    Access coverage for prescription meds, medical equipment, pharmacist services, and support programs like Choice in Supports for Independent Living (CSIL), Deaf and Hard of Hearing services, autism funding, early childhood intervention, and mental health services.
  • Medical Services Plan (MSP)
    Covers medically necessary health services through enrolled providers. MSP premiums have been fully eliminated since 2020. The Health Connect Registry also helps BC residents get connected to a family doctor.

Driving with Epilepsy

  • Epilepsy & Driving Regulations in BC
    Non-commercial drivers with epilepsy must be seizure-free for at least 6 months. There is no mandatory reporting to licensing authorities in BC for non-commercial drivers.

Travel & Transportation Assistance

  • Travel Assistance Program (TAP BC)
    Subsidized travel for eligible BC residents needing to visit specialists or receive diagnostic services not available locally. Now includes partnerships with NOW Shuttle (Interior BC) and features options for IVF, transplant care, and other tertiary services.
  • BC Ferries Medical Assured Loading (MAL)
    TAP clients can receive free vehicle bookings and priority ferry loading for specialist appointments when available.
  • Health Connections (BC Transit)
    Bus service for rural residents traveling to urban centres for non-emergency medical appointments. Some routes offer on-demand or scheduled transport.
  • Hope Air
    Provides free round-trip flights, accommodation, and transit support for BC patients and escorts traveling long distances for medical care. In 2024, they delivered over 14,000 travel supports across 196 communities.
  • BC Family Residence Program
    Offers free lodging for families with children undergoing treatment at BC Children’s Hospital or Sunny Hill Health Centre, with added transport supports.
