Epilepsy Community Hubs

We’re excited to announce the launch of our Community Hubs initiative, designed for individuals impacted by epilepsy and seizures.

This program creates dedicated virtual spaces on our Facebook platform, providing a supportive environment where people can connect, share experiences, and access valuable resources.

Our first online hub is now live for the Interior region, covering essential topics like seizure management, mental health, and lifestyle strategies. As we continue to expand, we look forward to launching additional hubs across different regions in BC, broadening our reach and community support.

About the Epilepsy Community Hubs

The Community Hubs are regional networks, each offering a range of support and educational opportunities. Our goal is to build local connections, ensuring individuals across the province feel seen, supported, and empowered. Hubs provide a combination of online and in-person engagement opportunities, fostering both practical support and social connection.

What the Epilepsy Community Hubs Offer?

  • Peer Support & Connection: Join a community of peers with shared experiences who understand the unique challenges of living with epilepsy.
  • Support for Families & Caregivers: Resources and guidance for caregivers to support loved ones with epilepsy, enhancing family well-being and resilience.
  • Advocacy and Awareness: Engage in community efforts to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and advocate for epilepsy-friendly policies at local and provincial levels.

Volunteer Moderators – The Heart of Our Hubs

Our dedicated volunteer moderators make this initiative possible. Moderators play a crucial role in managing our online spaces, fostering safe and respectful discussions, and providing insights to help us continually improve. Through training, honorariums, and ongoing support, we aim to empower our moderators to feel valued and equipped to support the community.

Benefits of the Epilepsy Community Hubs Initiative

  • For Individuals: A supportive, stigma-free environment that builds resilience, reduces isolation, and offers tools for better management of epilepsy.
  • For ESEBC: Increased organizational efficiency, stronger community connections, and a framework for adaptive, feedback-driven services.
  • For Moderators: Structured, rewarding volunteer roles with opportunities for personal growth and honorarium recognition for their commitment.

Our thanks to the Valley First Community Endowment  for providing the pilot funding for this program.
