Ted Downey
Chair

As a journeyman electrician Ted has worked in many environments including being Head Electrician for BC Tel (now Telus). Ted Continues this work as owner of Downey Electrical Ltd. Ted is an enthusiastic trombonist who has performed from coast to coast in Canada, United States and in Japan.

As Chair of ESEBC, he focuses his attention on our services to people living with epilepsy and their supporters.

Tanya Tomsic
Vice Chair

Tanya is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a specialization in trauma work. She has a strong background in crisis intervention, first responder critical incident stress management, grief and loss, and working with individuals with special needs/acquired brain injury and their caregivers.

A life-long learner, Tanya is passionate about volunteering and enjoys event planning, music, art, and anything where she can express her creative side! She believes that everyone has something to offer and loves to see people gain the knowledge and confidence to step outside of their comfort zone and pursue their goals and dreams.

She is looking forward to watching the ESEBC grow and be able to offer support to more and more people province-wide.

Donald Davis
Treasurer

Don is a Chartered Professional Accountant and has made a significant contribution to the Not-For-Profit sector throughout his 35-year career through his participation on a number of NPO governance boards.  Don is currently employed as the Central Finance and Operations Officer for the Fraser Valley Child Development Centre in Abbotsford, BC.

Don lives in the Yarrow community of Chilliwack, BC with his partner Karen along with his two sons, two dogs and three cats.

In his free time Don enjoys spectator sports, reading and curling.

Tom Allen
Director

Tom Allen, has been a dedicated volunteer at ESEBC for over the last 10 years. As a former business owner, he has honed his entrepreneurial skills and showcased his ability to navigate complex challenges.

Tom is an electrician who recently received his Red Seal certification.

He also possesses a wealth of knowledge in the IT field, with a deep understanding of various technological systems and software applications.

Driven by his profound desire to aid those in need, Tom is now aspiring to make a meaningful impact in his role as a Director on the Board of Directors at ESEBC.

Taryn McGregor
Director

Taryn brings over 15 years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources and healthcare, with a particular focus on organizational transformation, equity in compensation & recruitment, and strategic workforce planning. She currently serves as the Corporate Director of Compensation and Recruitment at Interior Health, where she oversees complex portfolios including work design, benefits, and recruitment across the region.

With a strong belief in collaborative systems and inclusive workplace practices, Taryn is passionate about applying her expertise to organizations with a social mission. She holds an Executive MBA in Human Resource Leadership and is a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR). Taryn is excited to support the growth of ESEBC and enhance its capacity to serve individuals and families across the province.

Dr. Malini Nair
Director

As a medical doctor in academic medicine, I am committed to advancing health equity through clinical research, public health initiatives, and innovation. My work spans medical research, digital health, and leading a med-tech start-up focused on mental health.

I bring clinical insight and lived experience to inform the development of care models that are inclusive, responsive, and grounded in evidence. I am primarily focused on improving access, early diagnosis, and education in mental health and neurology—areas where advocacy and understanding are crucial.

As a Director with ESEBC, I aim to broaden awareness and strengthen inclusive programming by advancing data-informed strategies, fostering meaningful partnerships, and engaging with communities and healthcare provider, ultimately to reduce disparities, improve care outcomes, and create a more supportive and person-centred system for all.

Michelle Precourt
Director

Michelle Precourt, CPHR, a proud Red River Métis woman is the CEO and Principal Consultant of Mindful HR Services Inc. In addition to her experience supporting small to medium businesses with HR on retainer services, workplace wellness initiatives, and career development programs, Michelle brings 15+ years of corporate HR and operations experience in strategic workforce planning, talent acquisition, labour relations, and performance management.

Serving on the ESEBC board is personal for Michelle, as she lived with epilepsy as a child and is grateful to now live symptom-free.

Michelle lives in Squamish, BC and when she is not working, she enjoys cooking with her husband, and on most weekends you will find them hiking in the woods with their rescue dog.

Lisa Wills
Director

Lisa Wills has decades of experience in project management, research, and strategy development and brings that experience with her to all of the organizations she volunteers with.

Having served on the board of the Little Mountain Neigbourhood House in Vancouver from 2014 to 2015, she continued her volunteer work after moving to Vancouver Island with the Victoria Fire Department emergency response team.

Lisa has lived in Victoria for 9 years and can’t imagine leaving the island as it's a gateway to oceans and forests.

As Lisa lives with Temporal Lobe Epilepsy, she is excited to help continue the great work that the ESEBC does to inform the public and help others living with epilepsy
