HOBSCOTCH for Epilepsy

Many people living with epilepsy also experience memory, attention, or “brain fog” challenges. HOBSCOTCH is an evidence-based program designed to help adults with epilepsy build practical strategies to manage these cognitive challenges and feel more in control in daily life.

Note: HOBSCOTCH is not a cure for epilepsy. It supports coping skills and cognitive strategies.

What is HOBSCOTCH?

HOBSCOTCH stands for Home-Based Self-management and Cognitive Training Changes Lives. It is a structured program developed at Dartmouth to help adults with epilepsy manage memory and thinking challenges.

  • Focuses on real-life memory and attention problems
  • Builds personalized strategies you can use at home
  • Supports confidence, routines, and daily functioning

Who is it for?

HOBSCOTCH is designed for adults living with epilepsy who notice memory, attention, or thinking challenges, whether seizures are controlled or not.

  • Adults with epilepsy (seizure disorder)
  • People who self-identify memory/attention difficulties
  • Those wanting practical tools and weekly coaching
